Packaging plays a crucial role in our relationship with food and how we consume it. However, packaging design has gained a somewhat undeserved reputation, associated with overconsumption driven by commercial interests. But does it have to be this way? I have a strong passion for packaging design and have spent years collecting various packaging types, analyzing their similarities, differences, and effectiveness. As designers, we hold significant influence, and I aim to use this power and my expertise to benefit others. The project title, 'The Packaging Lab,' reflects my approach towards my methods and work. My master's thesis, 'The Packaging Lab,' is closely aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals 12 and 13, which has led to my delight in receiving a scholarship from 'UiB's Climate Fund.' I tested various compositions and eventually developed a stretchy, transparent material that can be colored using fruit and vegetable extracts. By laser engraving an acrylic sheet, I successfully incorporated text and graphics into the material with varying results. The material is made only by edible ingredients, ensuring they are safe and enjoyable to consume, for both humans and animals. The material can be debossed or embossed through a curing plate, allowing graphics to be added. In my design process, I focus on aesthetics, functionality, environmental impact, and positive user experiences. This has resulted in a reusable packaging solution. Creating a versatile, neutral packaging design allows for diverse uses and appeals to a wide audience. This key strategy promotes durability, making it easier to reach more consumers as they can customize it to suit their individual lifestyles. Labels placed in a side pocket of the packaging serve a dual purpose - informing about the product while communicating The Packaging Lab's identity. The initiative aims to be a playful and creative space for idea development, reflected in the use of vibrant and playful colors in the labels, tone of voice and photography style. These colors also appeal to our senses and stimulate appetites, aiming to spread positive energy and inspiration. Expressive pins for personalizing the packaging, and informative labels that provide product information,&nbsp;are both tools that facilitate easier reuse of the packaging. The labels also serve as a vital communication platform for various producers and brands to leave their mark on their products. So, how can we enhance the accessibility of this shopping method, in both rural and urban areas? I have explored the system surrounding the use of this packaging and how to make it accessible to as many people as possible. In this context, I have presented a potential system where one can shop for dry goods similar to buying a soda or a bag of chips on the go - a vending machine for dry goods. With a vending machine, you reduce some of the fear surrounding bulk trade and cost. You get more control over the amount of product and the price. Mars–intiativet Design by: Anny Follesøy, Caroline Thanh Tran, Matilda Erika Strandberg, Oline Løseth, Vilde Valland Aarseth, Viktoria Røisli.Year: 2021 Women's Day in Bergen and the 8.Mars–intiativet asked for help to develop visuals for this year's Women's Day in the form of a visual identity, campaign, marketing and communication. This is an unpaid, voluntary project independent of other actors. Part of the work for Women's Day in Bergen is also to develop what is necessary for Kvinnefestivalen (the Women's Festival), an initiative from the same actor.&nbsp;As the event was held during the pandemic, the identity was designed with digital platforms in mind, especially for being visually present on social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. The goal of the work for Women's Day in Bergen 2021 is twofolded: To create an identity that has a basis for lasting longer than a year. If not everything is brought forward, perhaps part of the work will continue in the future in the form of, for example, colors, photography and typography. To create material that is inclusive for a breadth of people rather than those who "already" are fighting the women's struggle. We want everyone in Bergen to feel ownership of this day, and make them remember that it is important. They are fighting for the rights of themselves, their mother, daughter, girlfriend, friend or sister. The project involves an identity design that emphasizes proximity, experiences and presence during the meal. The goal of this project is to strengthen the experience and presence during a meal, and influence the customer's dining experience.&nbsp; The identity mainly consists of a logo and associated customized letterforms, various paper-based elements, photography, packaging, motion posters, business cards and a handbook to represent the ceramics studio ae ceramics.The core values of ae ceramics are proximity, movement, presence and handmade craft / handmade food, something I have tried to communicate through both the development of crockery and its identity. I want to stand out by using more agile and playful design but still keep it simple. I&nbsp;aim to bring this out through my tone of voice and playful compositions to create dynamics and contrasts in the visual identity. This is our proposal to the residents. Both the project and our concept involve the idea of lowering the environmental footprint and increasing the quality of life. The concept was presented at a local exhibition as an arena to inspire to create something together in the local area. This project is addressing global environmental challenges through the design of local and social initiatives and actions. We were together with members of the community, developing the ideas for social design proposals to inspire the residents of Møllendal. This is a collective project between spacial design students and visual communication students. They needed a clear identity and logo that could define their organization. They mainly work with maintaining four areas: A small beach, a seapool, a school garden/vegetable garden in addition to a small museum and several boathouses, former barns. Description of logo in native language -- Da jeg designet logoen hadde jeg museet, nøstet og bassenget/sjøbadet i tankene. Jeg har prøvd å visualisere hvordan de ulike elementene er koblet sammen på en organisk måte. Sjøbadet som ligger hånd i hånd med sjøen, bryggen, svaberget og de bratte bergene som strekker seg omkring badeplassen. Jeg håper logoen også kan bringe frem litt egne, unike assosiasjoner til stedet for hver av dem som ser den. Enten du ser en gressbakke, berg eller et vilt hav. Eller noe helt annet. Ymt is a magazine designed and published by Bachelor Students, who each year works on developing a new visual identity and a new edition of the magazine, both printed and digital. In this case, a Release party was to be arranged as well as promotion for the event where this was my main responsibility as Promotion Manager. In addition to this, I was responsible for the layout of a selected article in the magazine. I only needed to read one word from the article to understand that this was the one I wanted to work with, the specific word was "portal" - in Gustav Kvaal and Torkell Bernsen's article: "Inside the narrative". Through the process, I came to the conclusion that the article (which did not contain any specific image or illustration) needed something more visual. A picture I had taken late summer came to fit perfectly for this article. The word´s origin is ´ymta´ which in Old Norse meant to talk about, and in modern Norwegian can mean to speak out in order to solve. Through the process of Ymt magazine's new identity, I tried to put into words the topics we wanted to promote and what we wanted to achieve with the new identity. "A hint is revealing just to bit of information". This was the first sentence that made my thoughts swing and it became natural to connect our magazine to the fact that we are a school that focuses on being in movement. In this course I experimented with materiality combined with typography. I worked with the abstract and aesthetic in the material. This, combined with typography to better communicate the subject. I tried to minimize the amount of text, and compress it to only the most necessary to see if this could help make the motif even stronger. I worked with gradient, blur and grain effects to bring out a depth and materiality in the posters. This is by now the start of a small poster collection based on eatable bioplastic tests I have previously done. The new identity should mainly contain a new name, logotype, colors, and preferably a pictogram. Through the naming process, we came up with a phrase that I thought fit so wonderfully great "Put light on the villain / lighting up the ignorant". What I wanted to bring out with this warm yellow-orange color was to light up what people don't see or know, and let the echoes shine forth. The new name and identity proposal I believe fits the organisation's core values and communicates their goals and visions. We did the naming process as a group, where we primarily did research on the company's core values and work, and then came up with many names based on this. We had some rounds of elimination and finally came up with three names we could choose from. I went for the word that was the easiest to understand in most languages and that I felt fit their values best. The name is "Ekko" (English translation: "Echo"). When you shout something, an echo can often be formed, the sound hits a wall and then comes back to you, a bit like in karma, "what goes around, comes around". If you treat nature well, nature do good things for us in return. It’s the echo of nature.
